Jaymee Bird
"My name is Jaymee (Alexia) Bird of Ohkay Owingeh. I am the Native American Public Telecommunication (NAPT ) intern at New Mexico PBS. I will be approaching my senior year this fall at the University of New Mexico. I will attain a B.A. in Mass Communication with a concentration in Strategic Communication and minor in world dance in spring 2013. I chose a degree in mass communication because I would like to produce the unique stories of indigenous people and their cultural perspectives since some situations can be hard for outsiders to understand and respect. I am very fortunate for the opportunity to be placed at New Mexico PBS. It’s been an exciting and rewarding experience. I am also the Intern for Native America Calling, (Khoanic Broadcast Corporation). I love all elements of hip-hop, world dance, and sewing. My future aspiration at the moment is to get accepted into a graduate program."
