Pueblo Bonito
Hidden by time and its remote location deep in Chaco Canyon, Pueblo Bonito is one of New Mexico’s greatest works of architecture.
“I think for a lot of people – including Pueblo people, modern Pueblo people – it’s like a reminder of what we used to know, and how we used to live, and what we used to acknowledge in the world that we don’t anymore. That we are part of a natural organization, part of a natural structure.”
Also on the program:
Musician Regina Carter, hailed as the finest jazz violinist of her generation, remains humble and true to her roots.
“It wasn’t about trying to be a professional musician. You just sang, you played…it was a way for our families and communities to come together.”
Buddhist monks from India create a sand mandala, illustrating the concepts of compassion and impermanence.
“Mandala is a house of Buddha. Like a house you need measurements. Mandala is a measurement, inches like feet, we dive deep into the scripture, then draw.”
Grammy- winning musician Daniel Ho moves easily between the ukulele and guitar.
“I don’t like to look back. I’m really, really grateful and I don’t take it for granted, but I don’t want to look at what’s been done. I just try to look forward and see what I can learn, and grow and evolve as a musician.”
