Robb Janov, the Rock and Rhythm Foundation’s Founder and Executive Artistic Director, is a national award-winning music educator who transformed a dying middle school music program into Rock and Rhythm Band, an exciting, innovative alternative to traditional school music programs.
In 2010, he was awarded second place, nationwide, as an I N G Unsung Hero, and his Rock and Rhythm Band program, now in its 19th year, has received grants from: Mr. Holland’s Opus Foundation, The Muzak Heart & Soul Foundation, The Mockingbird Foundation, PNM’s Classroom Innovation Grant Program, and APS Horizon Grant
Janov, a speaker at TED x ABQ 2012, recipient of a 2013 Creative Bravos Award, and a PBS/KNME American Graduate Champion recently launched the Rock and Rhythm Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides inspirational music classes for kids and adults. His efforts reinventing music classes have been featured on the PBS Newshour and the topic of a recent PBS/KNME feature about Rock and Rhythm.
Janov believes that encouraging students to find inspiring, productive channels for their energy is the key to igniting curiosity, building confidence and guiding them toward success and happiness in school and life.
