6/15/12 New Mexico in Focus Audio: Episode 551
This week on NEW MEXICO IN FOCUS, newly minted University of New Mexico President Robert Frank is in-studio to talk with host Gene Grant about his plans for UNM. The pair discuss the university’s academic future, its athletic programs and Frank’s vision for the state’s flagship higher education institution.
The Line is joined by the Santa Fe New Mexican’s Trip Jennings and veteran political and public relations consultant Whitney Waite. The opinion panel will focus on the Little Bear Fire near Ruidoso and the government response to the wildfire. New Mexico Congressman Steve Pearce has criticized federal management of forests and says large, hard to fight blazes have become the norm.
Panelists will also examine a federal raid on the Ruidoso Downs horse racing track and alleged connections to a money laundering scheme run by the Zetas cartel in Mexico.
The group also looks at the fractured relationship between Governor Martinez and her fellow Republicans in the wake of hard-fought primary contests.
