Former U.S. Senator Fred Harris

December 1, 2017 – Correspondent Russell Contreras sits down for an exclusive interview with former U.S. Senator Fred Harris. The Corrales, NM, resident was Oklahoma’s U.S. senator from 1964 to 1973 and was appointed by President Lyndon Johnson to the National Advisory Commission on Civil Disorders, also known as the Kerner Commission. The Commission’s report, which came out in 1968, examined the conditions of poverty and race in America. Senator Harris will soon release a book on the 50th anniversary of the Kerner Commission Report.
