The Line: Serving Parole In Prison
February 2, 2018 – In New Mexico, many prison inmates remain incarcerated despite being eligible for parole because they are waiting for a bed in a residential treatment program or halfway house. Inmates may also be held past their eligible parole date due to incomplete paperwork and administrative backlogs. For some, this “in-house parole” may last their entire parole term. Gene Grant and the Line opinion panel discuss the problem and debate possible solutions.
