June 7, 2018
June 8, 2018 – For over 25 years, Summer Classics at St. John’s College in Santa Fe has hosted participants from around the world for weeklong seminars in literature, science, history, philosophy and more. Gene Grant sits down with two faculty members, David Carl and Peter Pesic, to talk about the part they play in this “unrivaled intellectual retreat.”
“This year’s theme, A Time of Contrasts, considers approximately 30 works and topics that include Tolstoy’s War and Peace and Dante’s Purgatory, Ralph Ellison’s Invisible Man and Jane Austen’s Emma, film noir and neo-noir, the Yogavasistha and the Book of Exodus, quantum theory and the origins of calculus, as well as New Mexico icon Georgia O’Keeffe and her art. New this year is East Meets West: Lessons in Leadership from the Classics.”
