New Revelations About Handling Of Rape Test Kits In New Mexico

December 14, 2018 – New Mexico is making progress working through a backlog of untested rape kits. But there is still work to do, especially in light of a new CNN investigation which found police destroying those DNA kits before the statute of limitations had expired. That report included three local police departments, in Albuquerque, Farmington and Las Cruces. Host Gene Grant talks with Connie Monahan, the state coordinator of the Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Program (SANE), concerning these new revelations about the handling of rape test kits in New Mexico, and why there is also reason to be optimistic. SANE is an arm of the New Mexico Coalition of Sexual Assault Programs, Inc.
