Covering COVID-19 Through the Camera’s Eye

June 19, 2020 – This week, as part of our series of interviews with New Mexico journalists about their coverage of the novel coronavirus and its impact on communities, correspondent Laura Paskus speaks with Roberto Rosales of the Albuquerque Journal. The longtime photojournalist shoots everything from sporting events and crime scenes to street celebrations and immigrants crossing the U.S./Mexico border in a distinctive style that evokes his compassion. In this week’s conversation, he talks about what he wishes people understood better about those suffering the effects of COVID-19, how photojournalists can stay safe during the public health emergency, and what he misses about a city whose public spaces remain empty.
