What comes next?
On last week’s episode of New Mexico in Focus, I spoke with Julia Bernal, executive director of Pueblo Action Alliance. The conversation was just the most recent with Bernal, who has been on the show a few times in recent years, talking about Water Back, the State Legislature, and changing how we think about water management.
This time, Bernal and I talked about protecting New Mexico’s lands, waters, and communities during the upcoming Trump administration, lessons learned from the Dakota Access Pipeline protests at Standing Rock, and what true leadership might look like in the face of a culture of toxic masculinity.
And just a quick look at some of the news:
• “The EPA Stalled and Then a Fix for New Mexico Oil and Gas Pollution Evaporated” (Jerry Redfern, Capital & Main)
• “’Put Them in Trauma’: Inside a Key MAGA Leader’s Plans for a New Trump Agenda” (Molly Redden and Andy Kroll, ProPublica, and Nick Surgey, Documented)
• “What Trump’s presidency could mean for New Mexico’s climate” (Bryce Dix, KUNM)
• “These are the environmental rules that will likely outlive Trump” (Nicolás Rivero, The Washington Post)
