NM Immigrant Protections Tested Under Trump

This week on New Mexico in Focus, Politics Correspondent Gwyneth Doland asks state Democratic lawmakers about their efforts to protect undocumented immigrants from a Trump administration that’s ramping up raids across the country.

Last month, Trump rolled back immigration protections for schools, health care facilities and places of worship. Senior producer Lou DiVizio asks Archbishop John Wester about the guidance he has given to priests across the state, should federal agents visit their churches.

In a collaboration with New Mexico in Depth, Indigenous Affairs Reporter Bella Davis speaks with several Native people about what brings them joy and what they would like to see more — or less — of in news coverage about their communities.

KUNM’s Megan Kamerick speaks with journalist and author Kyle Paoletta about multiculturalism in New Mexico and his new book, “American Oasis: Finding the Future in the Cities of the Southwest.”
