Dolores Huerta Talks About Organizing And Her Hopes For the Future

April 1, 2017 – Civil rights leader Dolores Huerta is in New Mexico this weekend for events to honor her and fellow organizer César E. Chávez. Huerta was born in Dawson, New Mexico and rose to national prominence as an organizer and activist for farm workers in California in the 1960s. Huerta and Chávez founded the National Farm Workers Association, now the United Farm Workers (UFW), in 1962.

Correspondent Russell Contreras sat down this week with Dolores Huerta to talk about what she’s seen in politics and organizing during her lifetime. They also discussed the current political climate in the United States and why she is hopeful for the future.
