Economic Development Secretary Alicia Keyes Tells of New Era for Film Production, Census Challenges, The Line

This week on New Mexico in Focus, correspondent Megan Kamerick interviews New Mexico Secretary of Economic Development Alicia Keyes on new legislation designed to boost film and television production in the state. Kamerick also sits down with instructors from film technician training programs at UNM and CNM to talk about courses designed to prepare students for jobs with the burgeoning film industry in New Mexico.

Correspondent Gwyneth Doland heads to Los Lunas to follow U.S. Census Bureau Director Steven Dillingham as he tours parts of the state. New Mexico has large groups of hard-to-measure people and Dillingham came to the state this week at the urging of U.S. Senators Tom Udall and Martin Heinrich. 

Gene Grant and the Line opinion panelists debate the efforts by Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller and District Attorney Raúl Torrez to get the state’s Second Judicial District Court to reverse its path of shifting felony cases away from grand juries–a move the two disagree with but which the court says is necessary. They also discuss Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s plea for the federal government to reimburse the state for providing aid to asylum-seeking migrants.
