Final days of the 2016 legislative session, Ethics and transparency bills, APD’s use-of-force policy
We’re now in the final days of the 2016 legislative session. This week on New Mexico in Focus, correspondent Gwyneth Doland takes us to the Roundhouse to check in on what happened to ethics and transparency bills for the People, Power and Democracy project.
Host Gene Grant and the Line opinion panelists debate what passed and what didn’t during the 30-day session.
And Gene Grant sits down with Emma Sandoval. She grew up in a working class neighborhood and says that’s shaped how she thinks about politics today. Sandoval is the lead organizer for the Southwest Organizing project and she joins us to talk about access to lawmakers and why she encourages young people to share their personal experiences with elected officials.
The Line will also discuss the new use-of-force policy for officers in the Albuquerque Police Department.
