Healing and Adapting with the Land
7.12.24 – In April 2022, Paula Garcia watched the Hermits Peak Calf-Canyon Fire in northern New Mexico consume more than 341,000 acres — including many of her family’s lands. And as the executive director of the New Mexico Acequia Association, she has worked tirelessly to help the acequia community recover from continued post-wildfire flooding. In this special segment with Garcia and her family, she explains that people will be adapting to climate change forever — and that by healing the land, people also heal themselves.
