Women’s Sports in New Mexico, Photographer Craig Varjabedian, The Line

This week on New Mexico in Focus, correspondent Khalil Ekulona sits down with sociology professor and author Rick Eckstein to talk about youth sports, women’s sports, and what’s at stake for young athletes – in New Mexico and across the country.

Photographer Craig Varjabedian recently released a book of photographs that captures White Sands National Monument at different times of the day and at various times of the year. He joins producer Sarah Gustavus to discuss how photography can be part of a broader conversation about history and public places.

Gene Grant and the Line opinion panelists discuss a suit filed by three professors, who claim the University of New Mexico is in violation of fair pay laws for paying them less than it pays their male counterparts. They also debate the results of a report showing the Albuquerque Police Department is progressing in its compliance with the Department of Justice’s Court Approved Settlement Agreement, and look at the results of down-ballot races in last week’s primary elections.
