Native Communities Lead on Vaccination


March 5, 2021 – Tribal nations across the United States have been hit hard by COVID-19. Leaders and health care officials have pointed to disproportionate infection rates among Native Americans due to a number of disparities in health and socioeconomic factors: shared housing, lack of indoor plumbing, limited access to health care, elevated underlying health conditions and other contributing factors. Yet, Native Americans have been resilient in their fight against COVID-19 and many tribes now lead the way in the U-S in COVID-19 vaccination rollout. N-M-i-F correspondent Antonia Gonzales speaks with the nation’s top infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci about COVID-19 in Indian Country.
