Outdoor Cats Impact Wildlife In Albuquerque
March 11, 2016 – Did you know that cats are legally not supposed to be let loose outside in Albuquerque? A local ordinance requires that owners keep cats on a leash or in an enclosure. City officials argue it helps keep pets safe and wildlife advocates say it also would help protect birds and other small animals.
Producer Sarah Gustavus sits down this week with Desiree Cawley from the Albuquerque Animal Welfare Department and Sara Jayne Cole from the Central New Mexico Audubon Society.
