Peace Talks Radio, Top News Stories of 2014

This week, NEW MEXICO IN FOCUS learns about the history of Peace Talks Radio. This nationally-syndicated radio program is produced each month in Albuquerque and airs on stations around the country. Co-founders Paul Ingles and Suzanne Kryder tell host Gene Grant why they started a program on peacemaking and non-violent conflict resolution after the September 11 terrorist attacks. Host Carol Boss also shares how she brings out compelling stories in her interviews with individuals who have overcome challenges, while also holding on to values of non-violence.

This week, the special Line opinion panel of local journalists continues to count down the top news stories of 2014. Gene Grant leads the conversation about issues such as the 2014 mid-term elections, child well-being in New Mexico, the economy over the past twelve months, the leak and subsequent closure at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) earlier this year, and the Department of Justice investigation into the use of force within the Albuquerque Police Department.
