Poet Laureate Joy Harjo Reading: Indian School Night Song Blues
November 27, 2020 – Joy Harjo is only the second person to be appointed to a third term as the nation’s poet laureate. She was also the first-ever Native American appointed to the post. In this discussion and performance from fall of 2019, Harjo reads her poem “Indian School Night Song Blues.” Harjo went to school at the Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe and attended the University of New Mexico.
