Republican Dianna J. Duran & Democrat Maggie Toulouse Oliver Interviews, Congressional District 2 Debate Analysis

This week on New Mexico in Focus, Correspondent Gwyneth Doland continues our series of one-on-one interviews with candidates competing in November’s general election. She talks with the two candidates running for Secretary of State this week, Republican Dianna J. Duran and Democrat Maggie Toulouse Oliver. Duran hopes to hold onto her position as the current Secretary of State, and challenger Toulouse Oliver has been the Bernalillo County Clerk since January of 2007.

NMiF host Gene Grant and The Line opinion panel analyze the Secretary of State interviews and discuss the Congressional District 2 debate between incumbent Republican Steve Pearce and Democratic challenger Roxanne “Rocky” Lara, airing this week on KNME and New Mexico public media.

The Line also looks at recent developments in the shake-up in behavioral health providers that started last year when fifteen New Mexico companies were accused of millions in Medicaid fraud. A video that aired on KOAT on Sunday and produced by Concerned Hispanics Involved in Legislative Empowerment PAC, or CHILE PAC, was promoted as a documentary. But as it aired as a paid advertisement, Governor Martinez’s campaign has filed an ethics complaint against the PAC, alleging that it failed to register as a political action committee with the Secretary of State’s office. The Line also looks at a handful of this week’s current topics “On the Clock.”
