Authors Ron Hamm and Fernanda Santos, The Line
This week, New Mexico in Focus features a rebroadcast of our interviews with authors Ron Hamm and Fernanda Santos. Producer Sarah Gustavus speaks with New Mexico author Ron Hamm about his book on Ross Calvin, an Episcopalian priest who came to New Mexico in the 1920s and wrote about our state’s landscape and people. Correspondent Megan Kamerick sits down with Fernanda Santos to talk about one of the deadliest days in American firefighting, when 19 members of the Granite Mountain Hotshots perished in a 2013 Arizona blaze. Santos, a journalist and the Phoenix bureau chief for the New York Times, is the author of “The Fire Line.”
Host Gene Grant and the Line opinion panelists discuss the latest projections for the state budget, renewed debate about the upcoming Fiestas in Santa Fe and continued uncertainty about whether two initiatives will make it on the ballot in Albuquerque for the 2016 general election.
