Solving Albuquerque’s Housing Crisis with Mayor Tim Keller, Safe Outdoor Spaces & Understanding the Governor’s 2023 Priorities
This week on New Mexico in Focus, Gene Grant and the Line Opinion Panel give their impressions from the Governor’s inaugural address ahead of the 2023 session. The group also reacts to the Governor’s three appointments to the new Public Regulation Commission. Gene and the Panel also explore the recent settlement plan announced for the Archdiocese of Santa Fe. And the panel discusses the latest developments in Albuquerque’s debate over safe outdoor spaces.
In an exclusive interview with New Mexico in Focus, Gene Grant speaks with Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller about the city’s ‘Housing Forward’ Initiative. Gene asks the mayor how the city fell so far behind on housing, and if the plan to create 5,000 new rental units in the next two years is feasible. The mayor also addresses the back-and-forth on safe outdoor spaces and comments on his relationship with council given recent disagreements on homelessness issues.
