Special Session Announcement, Legal Recreational Cannabis Sales & New Mexico’s New State Engineer
This week on New Mexico in Focus, the state legislature is heading back to the Roundhouse in less than two weeks for a special session. The Line Opinion panel looks ahead to how they could help ease the burdens of inflation and rising gas prices. The panel will also preview the first legal sales of recreational cannabis in New Mexico, while discussing the regulatory questions that still remain. And, more accusations of sexual harassment are coming out against a sitting state senator. Host Gene Grant asks our panelists what needs to change when lawmakers interact with lobbyists in Santa Fe.
Environment reporter Laura Paskus asks the new State Engineer about the preparations the state is making to make sure water access is reliable in what’s forecasted to be another dry year. And, a bird’s eye view of a project on the Rio Grande aimed at preserving the river’s natural habitat.
