State of the State Reaction, Candidate Charged in Shooting Conspiracy, & NM’s Legislative Environmental Priorities
This week on New Mexico in Focus, Gene Grant and the Line Opinion Panel react to Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s 2023 State of the State Address and the spending proposals put forth for the state’s record-setting surplus. Plus, the panelists discuss the recent arrest and arraignment of a former GOP candidate for state house accused of orchestrating a series of shootings targeting democratic lawmakers. Gene and the panel also explore the proposal from the Governor to consolidate all the state’s healthcare services with a new initiative.
Political correspondent Gwyneth Doland heads to the Roundhouse to catch up with lawmakers in the early days of the 2023 session. She speaks with lawmakers from both parties about the opportunities in front of them given the state’s surplus.
Our Land Senior Producer Laura Paskus speaks with State Sen. Peter Wirth, D-Santa Fe, a longtime advocate for action on the environment. He says optimistic that in the 60-day session in 2023, the New Mexico Legislature will act on bills related to water, energy, and the environment.
