The Line: APD Officers Will Not Face Another Trial For Shooting Of James Boyd
March 3, 2017 – Bernalillo County District Attorney Raúl Torrez announced recently that he will not seek a retrial for two former APD officers who shot and killed James Boyd in 2014. Local media like the Albuquerque Journal reported that Torrez indicated he did not believe a new trial would lead to a different outcome. Keith Sandy and Dominique Perez were charged with murder by former DA Kari Brandenburg. Their trial ended in a hung jury. Host Gene Grant and this week’s line opinion panelists discuss the decision to not seek a retrial and the broader significance of the case.
