The Line: Judge Grants Bail To Defendants Arrested At Compound Near Taos
August 17, 2018 – It’s a story that has dominated local and national headlines for the past two weeks: law enforcement officials raided a compound near Taos and took five adults into custody and eleven children into the care of CYFD. Officials found guns and ammunition at the compound, and discovered the decomposed body of a child that the OMI determined is that of a young boy whose father allegedly kidnapped him from Georgia.
Producer Sarah Gustavus, sitting in for Gene Grant this week, leads the Line opinion panelists in a debate on the actions of law enforcement and the District Court judge’s decision to grant bail to defendants based upon evidence presented by prosecutors.
