The Line: Special Session Wraps Up, What’s Next?
June 2, 2017 – The special legislative session wrapped up earlier this week with a budget deal that leaves less than 1% in the state’s reserves. Funding for higher education was restored but the economic future of the state still remains unclear. The Albuquerque Journal reported that Senator John Arthur Smith believes there’s a “50-50 chance” that New Mexico’s bond rating could be downgraded again.
