“The Providers” focuses on treating addiction in Northern NM, The Line
This week, New Mexico in Focus spotlights a special interview with several key players in a documentary called “The Providers.” The film will be featured on the PBS series “Independent Lens” next week. “The Providers” focuses on the challenge of treating addiction in rural New Mexico. Correspondent Megan Kamerick sits down with both the filmmakers and two of the featured rural healthcare practitioners to talk about the film…and the problem at its core. “The Providers” airs Monday, April 8 at 9 pm and Saturday, April 13 at 10 pm on NMPBS 5.1.
Gene Grant and the Line opinion panelists discuss the push by House Republicans to repeal a gun law through a rarely used referendum process. They also examine the new law increasing New Mexico’s minimum wage for the first time in ten years, and look at the state’s opioid crisis in light of recent lawsuits and newly approved treatments.
