Young Voters

November 4, 2016 – A new law went in to effect this year in New Mexico that allows 17-year-olds to vote in primary elections if they will turn 18 by the general election.

Not all students knew about the law or felt ready to vote in the 2016 primaries. Max Bode, a senior at Amy Biehl High School who is working on his senior service learning project with NMPBS, took us to his school to hear what students and staff had to say about the new law and the importance of voting
